Alden Shoe Company

Next month, we will start stocking shoes from Alden Shoe Company. The company was founded in 1884 by Charles H. Alden in Middleborough, Massachusetts. Today Alden still manufactures all of their shoes in the United States, making them a very unique entity. Little fact, today 99% of the shoes sold in the United States are NOT manufactured in the United States. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

The company has lasted this long, because they cut no corners in the construction of their high quality shoes and each pair still requires nearly 12 weeks to make. Still Goodyear welted, where the sole stitched to the welt, which is attached to the upper.

I personally would love to see a return to quality products "Made in the USA". I am proud to have the opportunity to offer these shoes to you.

On an aside, I was left with some samples that I thought particularly intriguing for the possibility of custom make ups. While Alden has a very nice selection of stock shoes, I believe the fun stuff can really happen in these more custom models. The images in this post are but the surface of the possibilities for these types of custom offerings. Seeing how I particularly like boots, that is what I chose to show. Please let me know if you would like any of these particular models or what other types you may like to have. If there is enough interest, we can have them made.
